I am convinced this is a part of my Shaw family, but have not found a
connection. John Shaw and Margaret Kelley moved from Iredell County, NC
to Warren County, Ohio about 1795. At least two of their sons, James and
John, moved to Tippecanoe County from Wayne County, Indiana about 1832.
John and Margaret had 14 children, and other members of their family
lived in Tippecanoe County, also. They had a brother William who was
reported to live in Shelby County, Indiana. Both James and John had sons
named Elam. James Shaw, who married Mary "Polly" Cowan in Warren County,
Ohio in 1808, was my gr-gr-grandfather. I would be glad to exchange Shaw
information. My e-mail address is willess(a)juno.com.

I am interested in sharing any information of THOMAS STAFFORD, a
Quaker who was married to Elizabeth Boswell. This family started in
North Carolina to Wayne County, IN then to Tippecanoe County in the
early 1830's.
Also looking for informatrion of his son-in-law WILLIAM SHAW who was
supposedly born in Ohio. He married Martha STAFFORD in 1833 in
Tippecanoe Co. The Staffords and the Shaws (including a Samuel
Shaw) all lived in Wayne Twp. Tippecanoe County until 1843 when they
all left by covered wagon and went to Mahaska County, IA.
Staffords daughter Philany married a Jonathan Atkins. Another
daughter Celia married John McClain. Other Stafford children were
Elias who married a Margaret Shaw in Tippecanoe County, Eli and
Brantley, Others born in Iowa were William, Henry and Elam.
