Bert E. Gates, 70 died Monday at ll:30 a.m. in the State Soliders home hospital where he
had been a patient the past year. He had been ill for six years.
Born in this city he lived in Tippecanoe County all of his life. He was a carpenter for
National Homes corporation until his illness in l943. A veteran of the Spanish-American
war, he was a member of the Concorn Evangelical United Brethern church.
Surviving besides his widow, Mrs. Bertha L. (Royer) Gates a son Warren L. of here; two
sisters Mrs. Lon Robers of Veedersburg and Mrs. Claude Brewer of Danville, IL and a
brother Grover G. of this city.
