Now that my curiosity is thoroughly piqued, it sure would be nice to find out if Mrs Anna
Malone's death in 1913 was the result of foul play and if Mr Malone was sent to
Indianapolis following a trial?

Mrs. Thomas J. Maloney Tries to Kill Her Husband
Mr. and Mrs. Thomas J. Maloney have not, so far as rumor goes, been known to
harbor domestic infelicities but the action of Mrs. Maloney last night would
indicate that all is not well in the bosom of the family.
Everybody knows good-natured Tom Maloney. He and Frank Kennedy run a saloon
on Fourth street, almost opposite The Courier office. Both were in the fire
department several years ago and were most efficient men.
Last evening, along about 7:10 o'clock, she, rendered desperate by jealousy,
armed herself with a revolver and an ax and started for the saloon, anxious
to find out why Mr. Maloney had not come home to supper. There was no
mistaking her intention. It was plain to be seen that she expected to break
in the door to the room above the saloon if she found that her husband was
inside with anybody. The she would use the revolver. On the way from her
home on Alabama street she met a Mrs. Seagraves, who succeeded in getting
the ax away from her. Proceeding on her way she arrived at the saloon,
where she found Mr. Kennedy in the bar. He told her that Tom was asleep
upstairs and begged her to be quiet. She insisted on going to the room and
he accompanied her. They found Mr. Maloney sleeping peacefully on the couch
and aroused him. He agree to accompany his wife home, and the couple
started off together. All of this was merely a preliminary to the startling
events which followed. Just as they reached the door of their home Mrs.
Maloney turned suddenly to her husband, whipping out her pistol and
exclaiming: "Now, I've got you here and I intend to kill you!" Without
further warning she blazed away, her aim being bad, even at close range. Wi
th a startled cry Maloney started to run, falling down the terrace. She
followed and in the chase that ensued fired five fruitless shots at her
fleeing husband, not one of which struck him. One of the bullets, however,
hit a horse being to A.J. Roth, inflicting quite a sever wound in the leg.
Several bullets whistled pretty close to Maloney and he felt that the end
was not far away; a bullet might accidentally hit him instead of a horse.
Besides there were no more horses on the street.
The fleeing, frightened husband escaped without injury, except from the
falls he received in his mad race. A great crowd soon collected and Mrs.
Maloney retired to her home, Mr. Maloney being no where in sight. The
husband was afraid of her and did not go near the house. He even refused to
make an affidavit against her and up to this time no arrest has been made.
No one saw the trouble and an affidavit could only be made on information
and belief.
Mr. Maloney stated last night that he would leave town.
