Any relation to Thomas Roach Rice and family of
northern Montgomery County? He was from PA through
Ohio. They came to Montgomery County from Clermont,
Ohio around 1830.

Subject: [INTIPPEC] 1850-1860, RICE-Silas and sons,
of NY?MD? and OH
Hi. I am looking for information on RICE family that
was in Tippecanoe Co,
IN in the 1850 IN census.
Silas RICE lived in Lafayette township, alone, age
50y, as a Bootsman/Boatsman.
Silas was born c.1799 in either NY or MD.
A son, George, is also found a few dwellings
earlier, in the same town, as
are possibly sons William and Abraham.
George was born c.1831-36 (per on census info) in
OH.
William was born c.1818 in OH.
Abraham was born c.1824 in OH.
At this time Silas was married to Esther (Richey)
RICE, but she is found in
Union Co, living with daughter Elmira IRWIN (indexed
as IRVIN). Throughout
the rest of Esther's life she is living with one
child or another during
census time, but never with Silas again after the
1840 census of OH.
Are there any death or burial records for Tippecanoe
County for the 1850-60
time-period? Is there a library or Genealogical
Society that might have
these records? If so, can someone direct me where I
could write for information.
Thank you in advance for any help and your time,
Nancy
