ANDREW J. DODD: Was born in Buchanan county, N. C., Feb. 4, 1843, and was a son of the
late PHILIP and LYDIA (CARTER) DODD, long ago deceased; he came to Tippecanoe county,
Ind., in 1877, having previously married in 1868 in Fairland, Ind., AUGUSTA KINNEY who was
born in Shelby county, Ind., in 1846 and passed from life in 1876; her father, SIMPSON and
her mother, MARY (BOWER) KINNEY is deceased. The only child of this union, LILLIAN is
deceased. During the late Civil war our subject served as Corp., in Co. H, 9th Ind. Cav.,
1st Brig., 2d Div., having been enrolled as a. private September, 1863, at Fairland, Ind.,
at the age of 20 years; he had previously been engaged in farming. August, 1864, he was
stricken with yellow jaundice and was kept in hospital at Athens, Ala., he was later
transferred to Pulaski two weeks and when able rejoined his command. Upon the close of the
war, he was granted an honorable discharge September, 1865, at Indianapolis, Ind., having
taken part in!
the battles of Sulphur Tressel, Linnsville, Spring Hill, Franklin, Nashville, Holly Tree
Gap and numerous skirmishes; he had two brothers in the Union army, NATHANIEL in Co. F,
70th Ind. V. I., was killed in front of Atlanta, and WILLIAM in Co. H, 9th Ind. Cav.
Comrade DODD is a member of Geo. Wright Post, he is foreman of section on Big Four and
resides at Clarks Hill, Ind.
