WILLIAM H. HALL: Was born in Boone county, Ind., April 25, 1836, of parents, MORRIS and
PRISCILLA A. (HALL) HALL, deceased. He came to Tippecanoe Co., Ind., in 1881, having
previously married at Clarks Hill, Ind., Oct. 27, 1868, MARY M. CLARK. She was born there
Dec. 15, 1849, and was a daughter of DANIEL and RACHEL (COOLEY) CLARK, long ago deceased.
During the war he served as a private and was later made Corp. of Co. A, 16th Ky. V. I.,
14th A. C. He was employed in farming when he was enrolled Oct. 16, 1861, at Louisville,
Ky. September, 1863, he was transferred at Louisville, Ky., to Co. F, 15 V. R. C., and a
short time afterward was detailed as wagon master at Jeffersonville; he was later ordered
to Washington for service and then sent to Camp Douglass, Chicago, to guard prisoners
until discharged. Dec. 31, 1862, he was wounded at Stone River by gunshot in left side of
jaw; the following day he was taken prisoner, being held at Murfreesboro one day,
Chattanooga one da!
y, Atlanta one day, Montgomery one day, Richmond, Castle Thunder three weeks, Libby
prison three weeks and was then released on parole and sent to Annapolis, Md. He was
honorably discharged Dec. 13, 1864, at Chicago, Ill., having taken part in the battles of
Perryville and Stone River. He had three brothers in the service, R. S. in Ind. Regt.,
THOMAS in 116th Ind. V. I., and JAMES in 26th Ind. V. I., served as a veteran in 72d Mtd.
Inf. His wife's half-brother, FRANCIS CLAY served in 72d Ind. V. I. Comrade Hall is a
charter member of Geo. Wright Post, 185, in which he was first commander and is now
serving a term as Chap., he is a disabled soldier and his address is Clarks Hill, Ind.
