CONRAD ENDLICOFFER: Of German nativity, was born in Baden Nov. 22, 1837, and left the
"Vaterland" in 1861; he has been twice married, his first union being September,
1867, in LaFayette county, Ind., with ANNIE SPITZDAGEL. One child was born to this union:
MINNIE and his wife passed away in 1866. He married, secondly, February, 1888, MARY NARE
and they have also one child: EDELHIDE S. The subject of this brief sketch was following
his trade as a shoemaker at the time of his enlistment, which occurred Jan. 20, 1862, at
Louisville, Ky. as a private in 10th Ind. L. A. Dec. 31, 1862, at the battle of Stone
River he lost the use of his hearing by heavy canonading. April, 1864, he was transferred
at Chattanooga to 5th Ind. Bat., for five months, when he returned to 10th Ind. Bat. His
active hostilities were as follows: Perryville, Shiloh, Corinth, Iuka, Stone River,
Chattanooga, Buzzard Roost, Burnt Hickory, Lookout Mt., Kenesaw Mt., Atlanta Campaign and

close of the war he was honorably discharged March 8, 1865, at Chattanooga., Tenn.
