Hi Alma,
It is a small world!!!!!!!....I did mean Pike County, Illinois. My stomping grounds were
Barry,Illinois which is on your route to Pittsfield. It is about 18 miles west of
Pittsfield. You probably went across the bridge at Hannibal, then past Fall Creek in the
distance, thru Hull, Kinderhook , then Barry and onto the county seat of Pittsfield. Now
you have to get off the interstate to go into these towns. I have lived in Wisconsin for
years but have family in Barry.
And 2ndly, Martin Luther seemed to be a favorite name in the Snider family--also William
Calvin, sometimes. Appears these were German Sniders. It looks like one of the
Sniders--Jacob or James had a John Milton who died young in the Indiana cemtery, too. I
can't read my note on which.
Thirdly----Did you see ( in my note to the other LA) that Aunt Alice Hull Lewton lived
in Laddonia area. I don't know how she got there originally--probably thru the
Lewtons. My g grandfather Miles B Hoyt's family lived nearby in MO. My mother
remembers spending summers in the Laddonia area with uncles and cousins. Just
interesting.
Did I not see that your John Snider had bought land in Tippecanoe in 1832???? I think I
did and will check later in the early land records.
