Hello!
It is just a stab in the dark, but what about
Otterbein abbreviated? Otterbein is a community (to
the West of Lafayette) that straddles the
Benton/Tippecanoe County Line.

On two of my ancestors WWI draft registry cards they
list having been born (1887 & 1892) in Orth,
Indiana.
Is Orth a defunct town near Lafayette or was it a
local reference to something?
I know there was the Orth training camp during the
Civil War but that was much earlier than the
reference's I'm questioning
Any help much appreciated
