Ben Pring Struck By Truck, Dies
Former Logansport Man Fatally Injured at Lafayette; Dies In Hospital
Benjamin Pring, 74 years old, a former resident of Logansport, died late Wednesday
afternoon in St. Elizabeth's hospital at Lafayette of injuries suffered earlier in the
day when he was struck by a truck. Death was caused by internal hemmorrhages resulting
from a punctured lung and head injuries. Pring left Logansport about five years ago and
ever since then had been living in the Colburn-Americus community south of Delphi. A son,
Raymond, lived with his father.
Surviving besides the son are his estranged wife, Mrs. Ida Pring, of 516 Mobley Street; a
step-daughter, Mrs. Barbara Paul, living south of here in Washington township, and a
brother, Ira Pring, of Americus.
Pring was a native of Iowa, but spent most of his life in Logansport and the Delphi
community.
George Fischer of Lafayette, driver of the truck, told police that the aged man appeared
suddenly in the street and that a projecting contrivance on the side of the truck struck
Prang squarely in the chest.
First news of the accident was conveyed to Logansport by state troopers of the West
Lafayette barracks. They asked local police to notify Mrs. Pring and Mrs. Paul. It was
thought at first that it was Raymond Pring, instead of his father, who had been hurt.
