On Wednesday morning, Sept. 2d, 1868, at half past nine o'clock, SARAH, wife of
SAMUEL HOOVER, in the seventy-fourth year of her age. She was born in 1795. She
emigrated with her husband, [who is still living] to Indiana. They located in what is now
called WEA Township, on the well known Ritchie farm, in 1825: moved into town in June
1827. In March 1826 was born A.F. Hoover, her oldenst son, and the first white male child
born in the county--being at the date of her death, the oldest female settler of the
county. She has seen the town grow from a few scattered cabins of logs, to become a city
of over 20,000 inhabitants; and now having been for near a half century a help-mate to
her husband, she goes down like a stock of corn fully ripe, and in the hope of a blessed
immortality, she has been gathered to her Father.
Funeral from family ressidence, corner Fifth and North streets, at half-past 8 o'clock
P.M. [to-morrow] Thursday, Sept. 3d, 1868. Friends of the family, and the general public
are invited to attend.
