WADDLE, GEORGE W. - (1842-1919)
(Lafayette, Indiana Daily Courier, Wednesday January 8, 1919).
George W Waddle, one of the oldest residents of Lafayette, died this morning at 2:50
o’clock at his home, 1320 Cincinnati street, from a complication of diseases. He had been
in poor health for more than a year, but had only been bedfast for three weeks. Mr Waddle
was born in Ohio on may 2, 1842, and came to Lafayette when quite young. He was engaged
in farming and also did teaming in the city. His wife died 19 months ago. A
step-daughter, Mrs Louis Allen, survives. The body was taken to the Evans-Templeton
parlors to be prepared for burial and the interment will be in the Isley Cemetery, the
time to be announced later.
WADDLE, MARGARET (Lafayette, Indiana Daily Courier, June 5, 1917)
Mrs Margaret Waddle died at St Elizabeth hospital at 5 o’clock yesterday afternoon after a
long illness of a complication of diseases. Her condition was serious for some time. She
was 78 years old and the body was removed to the Evans parlor to be prepared for burial.
Mrs Waddle was the widow of George Washington Waddle and her health had been impaired for
nine years. She was a woman of noble character and had many friends in the city. She
leaves one daughter, Mrs Nellie Allen, of this city. The remains were this afternoon
taken to the family residence 1320 Cincinnati street and the funeral will be held from the
residence a 1:30 o’clock Thursday morning. The burial will be in the Isley Cemetery.
