Air Medal awarded him for his flights over the Himalayan mountain 'Hump' on
Superfortress missions.
He was serving with the 14th U. S. Air Force and has been missing since January 25, 1944.
No further word of his status has been received since that time. He had been flying

Staff Sgt. Charles D. Ginn, lost over 'Hump; on a flight from China to India, January
25, 1944, has been declared to be presumed dead. A message to that affect was received
yesterday by his grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Lloyd McKinsey, of Rural Route Five. His
plane, a B-24 was on a routine flight from Kunming, China to Chaubau, India, when it
vanished. He was subsequently reported missing. He graduated from Jackson Township high
school in the spring of 1940 and enlisted in the air corps two weeks after Pearl Harbor,
in 1941, sailing for China in February,1943. His grandparents were awarded his Air Medal
year ago.
I can check the McKinseys' obituaries for further information and will. Not time
enough today. Please post as information is discovered by you.
Thank You, Mary K. George
