While I was looking for an obituary in the Lafayette Daily Courier,
dated Thursday February 21, 1889, I found a notice for a wedding, It
was for William T Ball, son of Gardner Ball who married Mattie Bates,
daughter of Christian Bates. Could this be part of your Ball family?

Gardner and susan (Dunlop) Ball lived in Tippecanoe in the late 1800's. Their
children were born there. Gardner had a grain store. Gardner and Susannah were born in
Ireland, but evidently moved to the U.S. following her brothers.
Their known children were James D. The D is probably for Dunlop, was also a grain dealer
his wife was Nella
he has a child Lula with him.
Anna
Ella M married Henry Adams and is living in Chicago with her father in the 1910 census.
Wlliam T.
