Hi, Joanne,
Arthur Wilson is on the 1830 census in Fairfield, Sheffield Township,
Tippecanoe County, with a wife and a female child between 10 and 15.
Fairfield is now called Dayton. The name was changed about 1834. Dayton is
five miles southeast of Lafayette.
In the history of Sheffield township published in the "Biographical Record"
(1888). a Bruce Wilson and family are listed as settlers at Dayton about
1825. Could this be a relative? Or Arthur by another name?
I'll check to see if I have any other information on Arthur Wilson.
Susan

This is my first post to the Tippecanoe Co. mailing list.
Where would I find death & burial information for the town Sheffield for
individuals who died between 1847 & 1860 ?
I am researching ARTHUR WILSON, born 1770, Upper Rock Creek, Montgomery Co.
Maryland. I have him in Sheffield in 1850 ( census). at age 79. He isn't
listed on the 1860 census. His second wife is listed ( 1860 census) with her
son from a pervious marriage so I'm assuming Arthur is dead by 1860.
His first wife was ELIZABETH ( SARAH) DOLITTLE, born 4 Nov. 1783,
Brownsville, Fayette Co. Pennsylvania, died Sheffield, 1847.
Arthur & Sarah Wilson were my husband's GGG-grandparents.
Also ,as I'm unfamiliar with what resources are available at Sheffield town
level & at Tippecanoe Co. level, I'd greatly appreciate any information that
would help in my search.
Thank you
Joanne Mack, Salem, Oregon
