Message Board Post:
I am looking for relatives of William Boulds who died in the US Civil War, a brother to
John Bolds / Boulds. William Boulds served in 63rd Indiana Inf.
John Bolds was included in the 1888 history of Tippecanoe County Indiana. From that
history I have the following children: OBED A(llen)., EMMA A., LIZZIE F., EDNA (Bates) and
ELSIE.
From Lafayette Journal and Courier index and 1900 census, I found the
following: Helen R. Boulds (oldest daughter of Obed Allen) married John B. Tipton, a
Purdue student from Sullivan County Indiana and WWI soldier.
In the 1920 census, John Boulds, age 78; daughter Elsie living in West Lafayette. Also in
household are Clarence Bates and Edna, his wife, who is another daughter. John Boulds'
widow, Jeanette, lived with dau. Helen R. Tipton in DeKalb Ill, 1930. Obit (1945) says she
is buried in Lafayette but did not find-a-grave. John and Jeanette Boulds had a son John
Richardson Boulds who married Maria P. Soares. They probably died in HI.
Any further information on contact information for descendents would be appreciated. I am
working on getting a grave marker for William Boulds in Marietta National Cemetery buried
as Unknown Soldier.
