The woods was several feet behind this cemetery. The cemetery is actually sits
in the farm field.
It was totally overgrown. It is helpful to have concerned groups clean out this
kind of growth.
I have to say that power washer idea is NOT good. It can blow away the surface
of the old limestone and sandstone. There are better methods to clean, these
old tombstones
should be treated as historic artifacts. Once the damage is done, you can not go
backwards.

There is an article this morning about clean up at the Gapen Barcus
cemetery
in Lauramie Township. Congratulations to everyone involved. Among other
things, they cut down 70 dead trees of varying sizes, according to the
article. That cemetery must have been in the woods.
