Don't know if you are still on this forum. Just got both of these this week from
weebecky (Rebecca).
Herbert C. "Herb" Taylor, 78, of 1307 Columbia St., a retired barber, died at
6:30 p.m. Monday in the home of a daughter, Mrs. Ramon B. DuBois, 519 Calvert Lane. He had
been ill a year and hospitalized from Sept. 20 until going to the home of his daughter
Oct. 14.
Born at Butler, he was a barber at Kokomo from 1908 until 1942. He traveled several years,
then came to Lafayette in 1946. He last worked in the former Arthur Hazelgrove shop, then
at Sixth and Columbia streets. He retired in 1965.
Mr. Taylor was married to Bessie Mae Little in Kokomo in 1908 and was a member of the
South Side Christian Church and Eagles Aerie 255, both at Kokomo, and Barbers Local 86 of
Lafayette.
Surviving with the widow and Mrs. Dubois are another daughter, Mrs. Harry F. Rowland of
Peoria, Ill.; a son, Charles Wayne Taylor of Santa Ana, Calif., and two brothers, Will D.

Mrs. Bessie Mae Little Taylor, 86, of 519 Calvert Lane, died May 31 in St. Elizabeth
Hospital where she had been hospitalized six days. Born and reared in Pulaski County, she
lived in Kokomo from 1908-1942 and also in California and Florida before moving to
Lafayette in 1946. She was married in Kokomo in 1908 to Herbert C. Taylor and he died in
1967. He was a barber at the Hazelgrove and Jac Smith barber shops here. Surviving are two
daughters: Mrs. Ramon B. (Louise) DuBois of Lafayette, Mrs. Harry F. (Roberts) Rowland of
Peoria, Ill., and one son, Charles Wayne Taylor of Santa Ana, Calif. Services were held
June 4 in Soller-Baker Main Chapel, Rev. J. Thomas Hodson officiating. Interment
Tippecanoe Memory Gardens. --Lafayette Leader 6-5-75
