Mrs. Charles O. Lavey Dies After Suffering Cerebral Hemorrhage
Mrs. Tillie (Pierce) Lavey, wife of Charles O. Lavey, 2101 Hall street, died Tuesday night
at 10:10 o'clock at the family home, after an illness of six months. The immediate
cause of death was a cerebral hemorrhage, which she suffered late Tuesday afternoon.
Born in Evansville on October 8, 1876, she was united in marriage to Mr. Lavey, April 24,
1898 at New Albany, Ind. Mrs. Lavey had been a resident of Lafayette for 32 years. She
was a member of Central Presbyterian church.
Surviving, with the husband, are a son, Charles Earl Lavey, and a daughter, Mrs. Mary
Gertrude Bacher, both of Lafayette; a brother, John A. Pierce, of this city, and two
sisters, Mrs. Elizabeth Hollingsworth, of this city, and Mrs. Leota Nicholson of Chicago.
The body was taken to the Rogers and Smith funeral home and was returned to the family
home late Wednesday afternoon, where friends may call. Funeral services will be conducted
Friday afternoon at 2:30 o'clock from Central Presbyterian church, with the Rev. W. R.
Graham officiating. Burial in Springvale Cemetery.
