While at home nursing the bad cold last week I started to
work on the Weil family. Something I had stashed years ago.
I did add on about 30 plus folks to the family tree by using Ancestry and the wonderful
online resources we have in Tippecanoe.
My tree if anyone thinks they may connect is called:

Ok, so sharing the obituaries I found today. There will be more later and probably add

JOHN WILLIAM WEIL
John William Weil, who for fifty years has resided on the Dayton Road three miles east of
the city, died at 8 o'clock last evening of infirmities of age. He was born in
Erkheim (Village) Frankfort on the Main, January 21, 1832. He came to this country
seventy-three years ago and has been a resident of this vicinity every since. On December
12, 1856, he was united in marriage to Caroline Elizabeth Maurer, who died ten years ago.
Six children were born to them, of whom three survive; Mrs. A. L. Ross of Chicago; Emma
and Caroline. He was one of the pioneer gardeners of Lafayette and was engaged in that
business during all of his active years. Mr. Weil was a life long member of the Methodist
church. Funeral arrangements will be announced later.

Mrs. Caroline E. Weil, wife of John W. Weil died Sunday afternoon at the Dayton gravel
road, three miles east of the city. Infirmities of age caused her death. Mrs. Weil was
born December 19, 1829, and she lived in Tippecanoe country all her live. She was a
member of the Salem Reformed church and during her long life was the author of many kind
acts. She is survived by a husband and four children, Jacob Weil of Crawfordsville, and
the Misses Carrie, Emma and Amelia Weil, of this city. The funeral was held at 2:45
o'clock Tuesday afternoon from the residence. Rev. Conrad Hassel and Rev. L.S. Smith
officiated. Internment was in Springvale cemetery.

MISS EMMA WEIL CALLED BY DEATH
Miss Emma Dorothea Weil, 69 lifelong resident of Tippecanoe county, and well known in
local church work, died Friday morning at 5:50 o'clock at the family homestead on
Lafayette route5, Dayton road. She had been ailing since last January, but confined to
her bead only two days.
A daughter of John W. Caroline (Maurer) Weil, she was born in the Linnwood addition,
December 3, 1865, and at the age of three years moved with her parents to the farm on
which she died. Miss Weil was a member of the St. Paul's M.E. Church and for several
years took an active part in the Ladies Aid society and the Home and Foreign Missionary
societies of that church. She was also a member of the Narcissus Charity club. Surviving
are two sisters Miss Caroline Weil, well known china painter, with whom she lived, and
Mrs. A. L. Ross of Chicago.
The body was removed to the Bradshaw funeral home and will be returned to the family
residence Saturday afternoon, where friends may call. Funeral services will be conducted
from the residence at 2:30 o'clock Monday afternoon, with the Rev. H. Earl Moore,
pastor of St. Paul's M. E. church, and the Rev. G. S. Reedy, of Dana, officiating;
interment in the family lot in Springvale cemetery.
