Finding the church they went to may be one way.
And then records, if they exist. Famiy Bibles are the other
way to prove his death. Then probate or a Will.

On Find-a-grave I found a John Cockrell who died 6-30-1871 and is buried in
Tippacanoe Co. I am trying to figure out if this is the John Cockrell who was
divorced by his wife Sarah Ann in 1868. Does anyone have any suggestions on
how I might find the death record of this guy. According to what I can find on
the Internet neither the state or the county have death records back this far.
Is that correct?
