I had inherited information that listed this title as connected with the
Barr family but had never been able to locate it or figure out what the
connection was. Turns out it is actually the Staley family this is
represented in this book. One of the Barr daughters married a Staley. Anyone
interested in the Staleys of Sheffield and Perry townships should take a
look at this book: Aaron Staley m. Katherine Parsons and had E. H. Staley
(who married Salome Barr), Catherine Ellen Staley (who married James Gasgill
[as his second wife; his first was Salome's sister, Mary Ann Barr]), James
Staley, Marietta Staley. Aaron Staley second married Rebecca Baker and had
three more sons: W.H., George, and Lewis. This family suffered considerably
in the Civil War. George starved to death in Andersonville prison, James was
killed at the battle of Franklin, TN, Louis was also a veteran, and E. H., a
licensed Methodist Episcopal minister, traveled as a chaplain with the
Christian Commission.
