Hi Lisa,
I've been adding the names to Greenbush on Find-A-Grave for a couple of years
now.
Up to the F's now. Plus worked in a few other letters that only had a small
list.
http://www.findagrave.com/cgi-bin/fg.cgi?page=cr&GRid=5520802&CRi...
I have Nicholas Hengen in the list from the Greenbush office.
His stone is in the old Lafayette city section. (see the bottom)
The file has his death date as;
Feb. 1, 1872, aged 44 years.
Civil War Vet. Co. ? rank not readable.
I will have to look at my photos to see if I have anything. The tombstones in
the
old sections at Greenbush are some of the worst in this County. But sometimes
I get lucky and find the sun in the right spot to reveal more details.
The old Lafayette City sections is where the tombstones were moved to
Greenbush sometime in the 1860', I think. Many are missing or completely
broken and lost now. This cemetery was once on 9th street where St. Boniface
church, parking lot now stands. The caretaker told me the paper records were
lost
for the Old Lafayette City cemetery. So as I'm adding the names from their
file,
they may be wrong dates. I've found so many I've corrected with the tombstone
photos. Also I want to tell people, they may never find that tombstone. I've
been
looking for about 12 years for three of my own family members at Greenbush.
Anyway, please let me know if I can help anyone else. It's slow going on this
one.
LA Clugh
ps, the -1862_64 Monument, Civil War monument--
is listed on the line if you open the list on Find-A-Grave.

Subject: [INTIPPEC] Greenbush Cemetery
I need help. I had a PO Box for the Greenbush Cemetery, but my letter was
returned to me.
I am looking for information and burial confirmation for a Nicholas Hengen (last
name may vary slightly in spelling). I believed he died around 1872 give or take
a year or two.
I had a distant cousin tell me they believed his grave at a GAR marker.
I have no proof of this.
I really would like to know if he is buried in this cemetery, and also, get the
dates associated with him (birth and death).
Lisa
