Dr. W. H. Hill, one of the leading physicians of Dayton, Indiana, was born
in Sheffield Township, Tippecanoe County, March 24, 1850. His early years
were spent on his father¹s farm and in attending the schools at Dayton.
During the years of 1869-¹70 and 1870-¹71 he attended the medical department
of the Michigan State University at Ann Arbor, and completed his medical
studies at Rush Medical College, Chicago, Illinois, graduating from the
latter institution in the spring of 1872. He soon after commenced the
practice of medicine at Jefferson, Clinton County, Indiana, remaining there
six years, when he removed to La Fayette. There he spent a few months in
practice, when on account of nervous prostration, brought on by overwork and
too close attention to his studies, he was obliged for a time to abandon his
profession. He then removed to his farm, and after a comparative rest of
three years he again resumed the practice of his chosen profession at
Dayton, where he has resided since the spring of 1883, and there he enjoys a
lucrative practice and the confidence and respect of the community. Dr. Hill
was married in 1872, to Miss Jennie Andrew, of Sheffield Township, and of
the five children born to this union, three are living, two having died in
infancy. In his political views the doctor affiliates with the Republican
party. He is a member of the Masonic fraternity, and belongs to Dayton
Lodge, No. 103, and is the present Master of his lodge.
