Rich,
I know there are Lafayete city directories for some years. Perhaps
a check of the years when you think your grandfather was there will yield
some information. I'm not sure if they are at TIPCOA or the Alameda
McCollough Library, both in Lafayette. Maybe someone else on the list
can tell us where they are kept.

Subject: [INTIPPEC-L] Local Tippecanoe "Top 10" Resources
Content-Type: text/plain; charset=us-ascii

In early May, I will be traveling to Tippecanoe Co. where I'll be
meeting with a cousin from Florida to do some heavy-duty research to
find traces of our grandfather and perhaps his parents. We have no proof
that they were ever in the area except for repeated life-long verbal
references by my grandfather that he was "from Lafayette" then qualified
by the statement "I didn't really live there, but I worked there." This
leads us to believe he was there for a long enough time to consider it
his home.
According to his marriage application, he was born in N.Y. in 1875. He
married my grandmother in IA in 1905.
We plan to spend several days in Tippecanoe and surrounding counties.
Anyone willing to give us their list of "Top 10 Resources" to tackle
during our visit?
Thanks in advance.
Rich Lowe
