Hi everyone,
I wanted to let you know about a couple of things I've been working on.
First, most of the Quaker Monthly Minutes are now on-line, up through
the letter M. These should be done soon.
Next, I know how difficult it can be to locate or determine what
happened to an ancestor before 1850. I have been combing the very early
newspapers of Lafayette, and have put some of the legal notices from
those papers on hoping they will be of some help to others. These
notices include administration's of estates (some of these naming heirs,
others not, but included to show approximate date of death), divorces,
marriages, death notices (I was surprised to find so many that early!),
etc. Even an old-fashioned singles ad!! Check these pages out and let
me know what you think. After I finish the Monthly Meeting records and
another project that I am working on, I will probably begin searching
the 1840's newspapers.
I also found a few obituaries in these early papers and have added them
to the obit forum if you want to check those out.
