On the same page of the Lafayette "Daily Courier," July 6, 1872, is an
advertisement for a lending library that may be of interest:

New Books
I have just received, to-day, seventy-five new books:
"Good-Bye, Sweetheart."
"The Honeymoon."
"Beauty is Power."
"Nothing But Money."
"Uncle Tom's Cabin."
"Roughing It."
"Stolen Waters."
"Friendship of Women."
"Lulu."
"Storm Cliff."
"Warwick."
"Chris and Otho."
"Poor Miss Finch."
"Starry Flag Series."
"Boat Club Series."
"Rocky Mountain Series."
&c., &c., &c.
The above are only a few of the number received today. I have now
twelve hundred new books circulating, any of which can be read for 10
cents. You can read fifteen books for what you would purchase one volume
for. Remember the place.

In the Mar 13, 1880 obituary of Ollie Shaffer, it states he was
"late of
the Ford school." He lived in Clarks Hill and was age 22 when he died.
Does anyone have information on this school?
