I, too, live in Oregon....and the resources are plentiful!!
I didn't respond to you privately, just so other Oregonians who
may be on this list understand that census records *are*
available....and there are many places to go to research.
If you are anywhere near Salem, there are two good LDS Family
History Centers. BOTH of them are full of census records, that
they keep permanently, so usually there's something to look at
before you even have to order anything.
There are even bigger LDS History Centers in the state.....which
would keep even more info. on hand.
There's also the State Library, which I've heard is very
good...but haven't yet been there myself. Just going to the
FHC's keeps me good and busy!
E'mail me privately, and I'll give you more info, if you'd like.
I also have some addresses, etc....I can give you regarding
Indiana.
