Working on YOST, GINGRICH, BARR, WARWICK/WARRICK, FOUTS, NEYHARD,
and WIDMER, SCHWEGLER, FRANTZ, ROYAL, WITHROW, GRAFT, and related lines.
In particular, looking for information on the parents of Abraham BARR (1797
Lancaster PA-1874 Tippecanoe Co, IN). Parents are thought to be Abraham
BARR (1772 Lancaster Co, PA-1848 PA?) and Betsy Brenecy HOWERY, a widow.
Children of Abraham and Betsy were as follows. Most birth dates are
unknown, but possibly in this order:
1. Sarah BARR m. John SIDES of Hawksville, PA
2. John BARR m. Barbara KEESPORT of Lampeter, PA
3. Julia Ann BARR m. Robert LEAMON on Sept. 24, 1822
4. Jacob BARR d. Nov. 19 1886 never married
5. Martha BARR (1804?-1853?, d. in Crawfordsville, IN, m. Benjamin BARR [a
cousin],
who d. 1881 in Crawfordsville, IN). This birth date contradicts the
expected birth
order. Benjamin's family stopped over in Clark Co, OH.
6. *Abraham [II] BARR (1797 PA-1873, d. near Monitor, IN, m. Catharine RESH
(RUSH)
Dec. 5, 1820, in Columbia, PA) to Tippecanoe Co, IN about 1836 [my
ancestor]
7. Ann BARR m. COOPER
8. Benjamin BARR m. Anna COOK of Cincinnati, OH
9. Rebecca BARR m. James PAXTON of Beaver Falls, PA.
I recently found a deed for land in White county, IN to Abraham BARR and
Abraham SIDES. I am hoping this might yield some clues about the family.
ALSO, doing work on WIDMER and GINGRICH lines:
John WIDMER and wife, Barbara CHRISTEN, arr Tippecanoe County 1859 from
Switzerland via Ohio.
John GINGRICH II and wife, Catherine EHRESMAN, married in Clinton County
ca. 1857. Both arr from Germany via Ohio some years earlier. They set up
housekeeping at Robeson's Mill (near Monitor), Tippecanoe County.
