I found this very short obit in the Lafayette Journal & Courier for Aug. 21, 1921:
MRS. BESSIE NEWLIN.- Mrs. Bessie Newlin, formerly of Crawfordsville, now of this city,
passed away Sunday morning at 1:30 o'clock, death resulting from heart disease. The
deceased was twenty-nine years of age. She is survived by her husband and one child. The
body will be taken to Crawfordsville Monday for burial.
Then I saw this on April 22, 1929:
Walter Perry Newling, a resident of Lafayette for the past 18 years died at his home, 403
Madison street, at 1l:1l o'clock Monday morning of tuberculosis, after a long illness.
He was 40 years old and lived in Crawfordsville before coming to Lafayette. He was
employed as a watchman for the Big Four railroad. Mr. Newlin had a wide circle of
friends, was a member of Hope chapel and the Moose Lodge. He is survived by his mother,
Mrs. John L. Newlin, a sister, Maggie Newlin both of this city, and a brother, Howard, of
Crawfordsville. The funeral will be conducted from the Templeton funeral home Wednesday
morning at 1l o'clock. Rev. W.B. Chancellor of Hope chapel officiating: burial in Oak
Hill cemetery, Crawfordsville.
Other than the "Crawfordsville Connection", it's hard to tell if they were
even related. Hope this helps.
