Hi Maureen,
I am scanning the papers about 1890 for information on another family, and
I found several things about Culver's Station. In Culvers Items of January
28, 1890, Weekly Courier, it says: The Wild Cat church will give a literary
entertainment on the evening of the sixth of February." You asked about
churches at Culver's Station, and this is the first mention I've seen of
one. Since there was a Wild Cat cemetery a bit to the southwest of Culver's
Station in Wea Twp, I suspect this church was located near the cemetery.
The Culver's Station settlement seems to have extended a out from the
actual station into both townships. In another item, there is a mention
Elliott school at Culver's. Elliott school was a bit to the southeast of
Culver's Station, in Sheffield township. In the Stockwell items of Mar. 4,
1890, it says "The entertainment given by the young people of Wild Cat at
G. A. R. hall last Saturnday evening was well attended." In the same
Stockwell items, it also says "Born to Mr. and Mrs. John A. Baer, a baby
daughter."
Best,
Susan
