April 12, 1948 Journal & Courier: FORMER BUSINESS MAN OF CITY DIES - Funeral services
were conducted at Indianapolis Monday morning for Frank James Geiger, 94, former Lafayette
resident, who died Saturday in the capital city. Mr. Geiger, a retired flour
manufacturer, set up business in Lafayette in 1873, and moved his firm to Indianapolis in
1901, retiring 13 years later.
Older residents recall that Mr. Geiger, while in Lafayette, was a member of the firm of
Geiger and Tinney, serving as the president. This was a wholesale business, dealing in
coffee, tea, spices and other merchandise, located at 18-20 North Third Street. Henry C.
Tinney was secretary-treasurer. Mr. Geiger is said to have built the house at 205 South
Sixth street and made his home there.
