Dec. 20, 1850 Journal & Courier - MRS. JOSEPH DE FREESE - Mrs. Adolpha B. DeFreese,
69, wife of Joseph DeFreese, died at 11:30 a.m. Wednesday in the family home on R. 8 near
West Point on State road 25, folowing a short serious illness. Born in Jackson township,
where she taught school there many years, she spent her entire life in that general
community. She was married 45 years ago and was a member of the Taylor Station Methodist
church, the Ladies' Circle of the G.A.R., Shadeland Grange and of the county Home
Economics club chorus.
Surviving are the husband; two sons, Lee V., of Valparaiso, and Robert B., at home, with
the brothers, Clinton Swaynie of West Lafayette, and Eldo Swaynie, of East Lansing, Mich.
