PETER GEPHART PASSES AWAY - Dies At St. Elizabeth Hospital After Long Illness; Funeral To
Be Held Today.
Peter Gephart passed away at St. Elizabeth hospital Sunday morning at 4 o'clock.
Death was due to a complication of diseases He had been a patient at the hospital for the
past five months. He was born August 28, 1851, in Miami County, Ohio and was a son of
Sarah and Zachariah Gephart.
In 1874 he was united in marriage to Miss Ellen Doty of Warren county. She died in
February 1890. Two children survive this union, E.W. Gephart of Otterbein, and Mrs. Edward
Hughes, of Sturgis, Michigan. Mr. Gephart was again married in 1893 to Miss Anna Mathias,
of Warren county, who died in 1903, leaving two sons, Ralph, of Logansport, and Harmon
Gephart, of Detroit, Michigan. Besides the children, the following brothers and sisters
survive: B.F.Gephart of Pine Village; Charles Gephart, of Minneapolis, Minn.; Jack
Gephart of Elkhart; William Gephart, Mrs. Henry Manley, and Mrs. Thomas Johnson, all of
Oxford; Mrs. Lida Ransom, of Talbot; Mrs. John Shinn, of Templeton; and Mrs. William
Harmon, of near Green Hill.
Rev. Ephrem Lieftuchter, O.F.M. of St. Elizabeth hospital; celebrated requiem high mass at
St. Boniface church Monday morning at 7:30 o'clock. The body was then taken to the
home of a sister, Mrs. William Harmon, southwest of Green Hill, where services were held
at 2 o'clock, with Rev. Lieftuchter in charge. Burial at Mound cemetery. - Journal
