Message Board Post:
Hey, Lou Ann, I just saw your post about your work on Greenbush. So excited to hear that!
I was looking b/c I might get a chance to drive by Lafayette again this summer, and
I'm hoping to be able to stop for a few hours and do some family research.
Last time I was able to travel there, you had helped me locate my KELLY/KELLEY headstones
at Greenbush. I just pulled the photos out last night, in fact. I want to load them to
Find A Grave, but even though James is listed, the main one you helped me find was not.
That is the one I have the photo for...so don't know how to add it if the cemetery
doesn't include her name.
The grave I'm talking about is for Catherine Kelly Stevens, who d May 3, 1858. I
don't know if you remember helping me, but you went out to the cemetery and located
the stone (and cleaned it, too, if I remember correctly) and sent me a description of
where to find it. We did get there, found it, and took a pic, but it doesn't show the
details clearly. You had mentioned it was hard to read, and that maybe that wasn't
exactly what the headstone said.
Actually, due to the varieties of spelling people came up with back then, the surnames
were spelled differently. Here is my note from your email:
"The Greenbush Cemetery records show Catherin K Stephens (died May 3, 1858) buried in
a plot with James Kelley (died September 1, 1853, aged 60 years), Mary Kelley (no dates or
explanation), and Mable Stephens (died September 21, 1870, infant, aged 11 months, 21
days). These are the actual spellings listed in the records."
At any rate, I'd be glad to upload my scanned copy of my photo for Catherine Kelly
Stevens if it would help...but how do I put it in the Greenbush Find A Grave if there is
no record of her to attach the photo TO???
Thanks in advance for the help...and for all you've done over the years to get records
up online!
