OK, had to look on Google maps. According to Google maps, "McCarty Lane" does
end at 500 (aka Veterans Memorial Hospital. After Veterans, it is labeled E100S. It Ts
into a road called S550E. The roads in that area have been cut up by I65 which went
through in the 1970s. McCarty was cut, but in the last couple of years it was extended by
an overpass. S550E is still cut by I65. It now runs down both sides of that highway. On
the East, it runs down and connects to E150S, which runs east into S650E, where it Ts. We
used to call S650E the Dump Road. I think my folks called it the Cedar Bluff Road when
they were growing up, probably before people started dumping there (partly to help stop
erosion down the bluff; that dumping was stopped thirty years ago). I remember being told
that McCarty started at the Cedar Bluff road. But looking at the map now I'm a bit
confused. Either part of it has been abandoned, or it was reached by driving west on what
is now 150 and turning on 550, the!
n turning again onto McCarty, which is now labeled 100 until you get to Veterans. Am I
making sense?
