Hi William: Thanks so much for your time and effort. Your reply caused me
to do some more research from this end. I have found that his wife Nancy
remarried 18 Feb. 1844 to John Stinson. Don't understand why Nancy was'nt
on the 1840 census. Maybe George died early in 1840 before the census.
Perhaps his widow was living with a married daughter at census time.
Nancy and her new husband left for Pike Co. Illinois before 1845, Taking
all her children including my g grandfather, her stepson Robert
Emmitt. Robert met and married Eliza Jane Renoud there. As far as I can
tell Bridget Emmit was not
of this family. I have 11 children but there are gaps where other children
could have been born.
Thanks again for your effort it is really appreciated.
John

I could find no EMMITT's in Tippecanoe Censuses 1790-1890, from

There was a Bridget EMMIT (one 'T') in Lafayette, Tippecanoe Co, in the
1860 census, page 902
This was the only EMMITT (of various spellings) recorded in Tippecanoe
Censuses 1790-1890
Good luck in your search,
