>I must have missed something, which is unusual!! Is there a
website for
the
Tippecanoe Co Cemeteries?
Jean Hehn>>
Hi Jean and others,
L.A. is talking about the cemetery pages on the Tippecanoe GenWeb site:
http://www.rootsweb.com/~intippec/tcem.html
Last year a group was formed to preserve the old pioneer cemeteries in
Tippecanoe Co. Our goal is to clean and repair the old stones, and
hopefully to find others that have fallen and become buried, and to put the
cemeteries in good shape. A couple of years ago, a group of folks from Wea
township got together and restored the Feerer-Black Cemetery. They worked
on it about three years, with more to be done. When they started there were
only about 20-odd stones, but so far have uncoverd over 30 others. This is
what we are hoping to be able to do with the other cemeteries. With over
130 cemeteries in the county, volunteers are always welcome to join us!
Volunteers have been working on inputing data for the cemeteries, and it has
been greatly appreciated, but much more needs to be done. Photos are also
being added to some of the pages. If you have tombstone pictures from
Tippecanoe Co., I'd be happy to add them.
And to repeat L.A.'s invitation: We'd love to see some of you at our
Cemetery Preservation Workshop this weekend. So far, the weatherman says
we should have a great weekend for it. For more info on the workshop visit:
