I think these are standard guidelines for Indiana. Always remember to
include a self-addressed, stamped envelope.

Subject: [INTIPPEC] pre 1900 birth record
Hello,
I sent a letter to the Tippecanoe County Health Department requesting a
copy of a
birth certificate. I provided the year (1897) and the book and
page number that I got from W.P.A. indexes available here in Fort Wayne. I
also enclosed a check for $5.00.
I recieved a letter back telling me to fill out a form, which was enclosed
and
return it with a photocopy of my drivers license. I was also told they
do not accept personal checks. Since it would be illegal to send cash, I
assume they expect me to purchase a money order or a bank draft.
Are these older records available for inspection at a local library or
archives?
Does the clerk allow genealogist to view older records? Any
suggestions would be appreciated.
