I have created a blog for posting articles about Jefferson County History. I know that
there are many researches with connections in Switzerland County who are also interested
in Jefferson.

I am doing this to start getting information from my rapidly evolving
book on the history of Jefferson County into the public. I hope to
publish by 2009. It's probably more than anybody needs to know about
the county up to roughly World War I. I am writing it because of the
approaching bicentennial of Madison and because there's never been a
history of Jefferson County written that was very good and a lot of
information circulating about the county has become disconnected from
the source material that, even when true, it's hard to tell why we know
it's true. Also, so many histories have concentrated on the great man
and great houses of Madison's Golden Age that the rest of history has
been given short shrift.
I will be digesting information, hopefully a regular basis.
Suggestions, ideas, corrections are welcome.
