Seeking information on the RESLER and SNYDER families. The Switzerland
County history say a "Louis Resler" had a store in early Patriot, Indiana,
as did a William Williams.
We believe that he may be an ancestor of a Lewis Rissler who married Susan
SNYDER in Switzerland County Sep 15 1848. The Rissler's later purchased
the site of Sanders' Mill in what is now Sanders, Carroll County, Ky and
Sander's Mill may have become "Rislerville." Susan had at least two
children, Charles Hays Risler and Elizabeth Risler who married J. Newton
Williams. Sanders doesn't have it's own cemetery so these folks are
buried in Ghent, but I don't know where Lewis Risler is buried. Possibly
in Switzerland County. The name William Williams also appears in Ghent,
so there may be another relationship between the Williams and Resler
families. Charles Hays Risler married "Maggie." Maggie Who?
A blank book which belonged to Susan SNYDER survives from around 1840. It
has poems which were written "For Susan" at many placenames of Lycoming
County, Pennsylvania, such as Pine Creek, Jersey Shore, and Mill Hall.
Perhaps she was a native of that place or went to school there.
Spelling of Rissler are all over the place. Any information on these
families would be appreciated.
