Regarding my post to the list of April 30 (see below), I now have the
information I requested thanks to several people whom I have thanked via
private e-mail. My thanks to everyone who has helped or offered
suggestions. My particular thanks to the list owner, Ruth Hoggatt, who
is in the process of publishing the entire roster of Switzerland County
Civil War soldiers from the book "History of Switzerland County, Indiana
1885". I believe that will be helpful to many of us.
Thanks again,

AB>Can anyone give me any information regarding the companies that went
AB>from Switzerland Co. to fight in the Civil War? My grandmother states in
AB>her journal that her father, Samuel H. Pavy, of Craig Twp. was
AB>commissioned as a Captain by Governor Morton during the Civil War. She
AB>said that although he didn't see any action at the front, he drilled and
AB>sent several companies to the front. She goes on to say that he had
AB>three sons who were in the Federal Army. I know of one, Henry Clay Pavy,
AB>who was killed and is buried at Gettysburg. I am trying to find the
AB>names of the other two who served and survived. Can anyone tell me where
AB>I might find these records? I would appreciate your help.
