So-called "small" online mailing lists, like the Switzerland county list,
never cease to amaze me. It's been my experience that response to queries
to these lists bring far more offers of help than a similar post to a
"large" mailing list.
Because I'm busy packing for my trip to Switzerland county, I won't be able
to properly thank all of you for your cemetery location and land deal help.
Bob Scott, your replies to my query were the first to go into the mini-van.
Your answer to my question about land deals was very helpful. This old city
guy has much to learn! (Thanks, I previously found the Bureau of Land
Management URL and bought copies of "my " land deals. The quality is poor.
Hard to read.)
Linda Mathis, I can't believe it. Your large, detailed map of how to find
the unpublished location of Oatman Cemetery is great! Now, I've gotta' be
sure and see Henry and Mary Oatman's monument. No, Linda, I don't live
close to Switzerland county. I was born in Kansas and I've lived in
Southern California most of my adult life. This will be my fourth visit to
SE Indiana in three years.
Sure 'nuff, Barb Boese sent me reams of stuff that'll cut my cemetery
search in half. Just in case it was from copyrighted material, I won't
mention what she sent. She might bury me in Boot Hill, near her ranch in
Dodge City. Barb, as most of you probably know, has a fabulous reputation
of dropping everything to help online researchers from coast to coast.
Thanks again, folks. If you think of anything else I should know, let me
hear from you. I'll be checking my mail every day from a Motel 6 or a
Holiday Inn. <g>
