Our immigrant ancestor, Richard WAINSCOTT, lived first in St. Marys,
MD (1728-1735+). By 1745 he had moved to Augusta Co., VA and acquired 200
acres there. About 1750 he moved his family to Anson Co./Rowan Co., NC and
settled there. He and his sons owned land near the Yadkin River in what
became Surry Co., NC. Richard died there in the 1760s. In the 1780s and
1790s most of his sons and daughters moved their families to KY. As the
family spread out, many moved to Indiana, Illinois, Missouri and Texas. In
Indiana, many settled in Switzerland and Montgomery Counties.
I have been researching the Wainscott family and preparing to publish
a book on the family. If you are one of the many who have sent me
information on your part of the Wainscott family, I thank you again and hope
you will enjoy seeing the result from all the effort.
With this note I am announcing the availability of "The Wainscott
(Winscott)
Family of Virginia, North Carolina and Kentucky." This is a genealogy book,
with the
information on descendants presented by Family Tree Maker software. My goal
has been in include all descendants of Richard Wainscott, providing dates,
places and as much biographical information about each person as I could find.
The book is about 270 pages (on 8 1/2 by 11 inch paper) and is
softbound. It
will be ready for shipment in about 2 weeks. If you would like to order the
book, contact me and I will tell you how to order.
