Phil:
On the church list on the Switzerland County site Zion Chapel is what
you are describing as "Taterbug Church." I don't know when the church
was abandoned (there is also a cemetery), but it is quite likely it was
prior to the merging of Methodist and EUB.
Mt. Zion Methodist Episcopal is on Little Doe Run one-half mile from
Five Points also in Craig Township. It is now being used as a Nazarene
Church. Thus it was listed twice on the church list.
It looks as if these churches need some more research.

Does anyone have information on this old church & cemetery on Indian
Creek and Detour Road? Also known as "Taterbug Church." This group of
United Brethren merged with the Evangelical Church in 1946, and then the
EUB merged with the Methodists in 1968 to become United Methodists. Are
there any records for this chapel, maybe with the Methodists?
A book on the UB Indiana Conference (Adam Byron Condo, 1926) mentions a
Mt. Zion church "southwest of Vevay several miles" with a stone church
erected in 1849, but no reference to Zion Chapel in Switzerland Co.
Ellyn Kern's recent list of Switz. Co. churches lists Zion Chapel, but
no Mt. Zion UB church.
Any leads would be appreciated. Thanks.
