Hello Ardath,
Thanks for responding. My Webb is through John Webb that was b. 15
Nov 1786 somewhere in NC (we think somewhere around Stokes, Surry or
Rowan Counties). I can get into that deeper later with you if you are
interested. It has to do with the Moravian Community that was in this
area. We have circumstantial evidence that John was a member of the
Shaker Community at Pleasant Hill in Mercer Co., KY between 1806 and
late 1813. There was a Penelope Webb and family and a Ruth (Rhoda,
Rhody) Webb-Lineback that were members of Pleasant Hill at the same
time as John. I am about 95% sure at this point that this John and my
John are the same man and that Penelope and Ruth are related to him
somehow. Penelope may be the mother of John and Ruth.
There were several Webb's in Dearborn Co., IN on August 03, 1812:
Loglick Twp
Frederick Lineback and Sally WEBB-Lineback (my 3rd G-Grandparents)
Logan Twp
Jesse WEBB
William WEBB
Joseph WEBB, JR
I am trying to determine if there is any relation among them and my
John WEBB and the Penelope WEBB and Ruth WEBB-Lineback of Pleasant
Hill in Mercer Co., KY.
John (my 3rd G-Grandfather) married in Garrard Co., KY in Feb. 1814 to
an Elizabeth "Betsy" COY. They appear in the 1820 census in Nelson
Co., KY. We know John was in Switzerland Co. by 1825 for the birth of
a 2nd son George W. Webb. His 1st son was William Webb (my 2nd
G-Grandfather). All records for him say he was born abt 1817 in IN.
John could have been in Switzerland as early as 1817. We do have a
theory as to why they were back in KY in 1820 but it's a long story.
There were BANTA families in the Pleasant Hill Shaker Community in the
early 1800's at the same time as the John Webb that I believe to be
mine:
Samuel BANTA
John BANTA
Vestus BANTA
Records I possess mention that this John Webb was apparently mentioned
in Lincoln Co., KY court records in a BANTA GASS suit against PH/CRBB.
We are stilly trying to obtain these records to see what is in them.
My FOSTER interest lies through my LINEBACK line and the SMITH line.
I have a Catharine LINEBACK that married a William FOSTER on 3 Jan
1821 in Switzerland. Catharine was an older sister of Penelope
LINEBACK that married my 2nd G-Grandfather William Webb. Peter SMITH
Sr. and wife Susannah LINEBACK came into Switzerland Co. sometime
around 1814. They had a son Joseph SMITH that married a Caroline
FOSTER on 7 November 1842 in Switzerland. It is my understanding
Caroline was his 3rd wife.
I am casting a wide net with all these surnames with hopes of
gathering information that pertains to my direct lines. I'd be most
appreciative for anything you could share.

Hello Bill,
I have a lot of Webb information but I don't think my Webb's were in
Switzerland Co. Most were in Madison and Fayette Co., IN. I do have
considerable Banta connections in Switzerland Co. and Foster's in
Jefferson
Co. I don't know if I have anything that would help you but I
would
be glad
to share.
