Some people who lived in Switzerland County, Indiana and moved on:
Several Douglass people moved to Arkansas or other places South:
Banister DOUGLASS (b. ca 1800) "went South as a young man and never heard
from again"
Henry and Mary (Douglass) HAMILTON (Mary b. very roughly 1830) moved "to
Texas or Arkansas with their 3 children"
John DOUGLASS (b. abt 1831) went to Arkansas.
George Washington DOUGLASS (b. abt 1832) moved to Lee County, Arkansas
sometime after the Civil War.
Theodore LAMKIN (b. 1879) moved to Selma and York, Alabama (died in AL but
buried in Patriot, IN).
Then there were 4 VOGT brothers from Cincinnati who came to live in East
Enterprise, Switerland County, IN to work for their uncle, doing farmwork.
This uncle was probably a BANTA. The 4 Vogt brothers married women from
Switzerland County and moved on. The women came back frequently to visit:
Walter F. Vogt married Grace STEWART (1878-1932) and moved to Montana to
homestead.
Daniel W. Vogt married Carolyn Froman WILLIAMSON in 1916 and moved to Montana
to homestead.
Stanley F. Vogt married Gertrude Dolly FLETCHER (1886-1971) and moved to
Montana to homestead.
Robert E. Vogt married Daisie Dean LAMKIN (aka Daisie DIBBLE) in 1898 and
moved to Cincinnati about 1909.
Elisha LAMKIN and Mary E. DOUGLASS married in 1874 and disappeared into thin
air ca. 1882.
