Beginning March 2nd, 2020 the Mailing Lists functionality on RootsWeb will be discontinued. Users will no longer be able to send outgoing emails or accept incoming emails. Additionally, administration tools will no longer be available to list administrators and mailing lists will be put into an archival state.
Administrators may save the emails in their list prior to March 2nd. After that, mailing list archives will remain available and searchable on RootsWeb
I corresponded years ago with a woman who was doing a checklist of Indiana
Photographers. I can't recall her name, but if you ask around enough I'm
sure you will find her. She may have worked for the Indiana State Library.
Inquiries to various Indiana photographic archives should eventually get
you either her name or the work she produced.
I sent this woman a lot of information about the Vevay photographs I was in
possession of. I found I could tell a little bit about when they were in
operation by the style of the backing of the photograph. I recall I could
tell when one photographer changed over from a stamped backing to a
pre-printed one. What sort of backing is on the photographs you have?

Hi Everyone,
I am glad to see the list becoming more active. I just returned from a
two week visit in Indiana during which I spent some time in Jefferson
and Switzerland Counties. I was glad to get back and see that beautiful
country where my ancestors settled so long ago. Unfortunately, I ran
into bad weather the day I visited Moorefield and Vevay and was unable
to go into the cemeteries as I had planned. I had wanted very much to go
to Ebenezer in Moorefield because many of my Kern relatives are buried
there. Also I looked for the Alfrey (sp.?) house in Moorefield. That is
the house where my mother lived as a child in the late 1890's and early
1900's. I asked directions at a store there but no one had ever heard
of it, so I guess it has been torn down. Is anyone on the list familiar
with it?

I was able to get a copy of a marriage license from the Courthouse. It did
take 2 phone calls about 3 months apart and another couple of months. They
were very friendly when I called, but then there was a long silence. There was
a bill for $6.00 when it arrived. ($5 for the lookup and $1 for the copy).
Most places won't do it until they get the money.
I have written a history of the Scottish settlement (around Caledonia Church).
If anyone is interested in exchanging information on these families, I will
gladly do so.
I am interested in getting more detail on when families came from Scotland,
where they originated and any places they stopped along the way.
I am personally descended from the SCOTT, WITHERSPOON, RALSTON, and STEVENSON
lines. (And some connections in Scotland to the BROWN, CRAIG and CRAWFORD
families, who also came although I haven't determined the relation of the
Scottish residents to people of the same name you migrated to Switzerland and
Jefferson Cos.)
