It's a long story, and I've done a considerable amount of research on the subject.
I have been trying to identify Astrid Kruse. I have only one reference to her in any of
the genealogy data bases. She lived with my mother and grandparents (in Chicago)according
to the 1920 census. I have several pictures of Astrid Kruse among my mother's
photographs. My mother had a cousin by the name of Lillian Kruse. I thought possibly
that Astrid KRuse was a cousin to Lillian. THe father of Lillian Kruse was the brother of
the father of Myrtle (Kruse) Crewes. Myrtle Crewes's father was James Crewes.
Sometime in the 1890's James Kruse changed his name to James Crewes. I got final
proof of the change from the obituary of James Crewes. The obituary said that James
Crewes was survived by his brother, George, from Rensalear, Indiana. George Kruse was the
father of Lillian and I know he lived in Rensalear, Indiana. In addition the mother of
Myrtle Kruse (Louise Crewes) and daughter !
(Lilly) from Milford was at the funeral of George Kruse's wife (Mary Kruse).
Lillian Kruse had a sister by the name of Esther Kruse, and they were born about the same
year. At first I thought Astrid Kruse might be Esther Kruse. BUt according to one of the
census records Astrid lived in Chicago one day, and the next day Esther Kruse lived in
Rensalear, Indiana. THe strange thing is they were both born in about the same year, and
they resembled each other according to the pictures in my mother's albums. BUt Myrtle
Crewes was also born in about the same year. All three were born in about 1902 or 1903.
I have census records for James (Kruse-Cruise) for 1880, 1900, 1910, 1920 and 1930.
I've reached my maximum number of words. If you want more information let me know.
