Hi, Joe,
I dug out some information which confirms that Michal and Marianna Sierecki were my great
grandfather Valentine's parents.
I have the church birth (Feb 13th) and baptism (Feb 14th ) record (mother: Sieroncinska)
plus the 1943 German birth registration you sent me.
I have Michal's church death record, as well. However, his spouse is listed as
"Marianna Jareckaj, [maiden name], Ulatowsky."
I also have a marriage church record for Michael Jarecki (45) and Marianna Ulatowski
(30)(Czestia), widower and widow, married Feb 10th 1850.
When you wrote that Walenty was a surviving son, 32 yrs old, I wondered where you found
that information, so I went back to the record. I was amazed. I guess I never really
looked closely at that information in the notes column because I thought it went with the
next entry. I found the names of siblings (Katarina, Walenty, Tomasz, Adam and Anton)
who I know are brothers and sister, as well as new names I'd not seen before: Michal
and Marianna. An Adalbertus is also at the top of the note. Do you think he might have
been a son born to Michal and Marianna Ultowsky? I also have a church birth and death
records for a Stanislaus Jarecki born to Michal and Marinna Ultowsky in 1856 and 1857.
Now questions are raised about Johannes. Do you have a birth certificate for him? Why
wasn't he listed as a surviving child? He was still alive in 1863. On his church
marriage record to Agnes, his mother is listed as Marianna Jarecka which isn't very
helpful.
My ggrandfather Walenty married Francisca Bladzik in Sadki in 1855. They were both
workers at the Mrozowo manor farm. I noticed in Michal's death record, Katarina,
Walenty, and Marianna were living in Mrozowo at the time of his death in 1863. Val and
Frances immigrated in 1867 arriving in 1868 in Nebraska. Adam and Anton followed and
settled in the same area.
A big problem is that there were many women named Marianna and their birth names were not
always recorded, rather the surname of the husband was used. This really makes our work
difficult. I hope we can sort all of this out. Let me know what you think.
Karen
